12/05 I did Shoulders & Arms. I really want to work on my arms, as you can tell. Its coming along nicely.
12/06, today, I did some cardio. I haven't been running so I wanted to do some cardio. I did Plyometric Cardio for Insanity. It was insane! I did half then I did some dance workout I found on TV. I guess thats how out of shape I am, I haven't had a serious run since my last half. Which really sucks. I want to amp up my cardio. I need cardio to blast up my calorie use. Its the whole concept of calories in versus calories out. I need to use up a lot more.
Eating has been a challenge too. I've been eating persimmon, like a lot, and just learned that it can cause constipation! Haha! I think that affected my system and I've been eating so much fiber but nothing. But everything from not eating enough, eating too much, not getting my vitamins & nutrients. One thing I hate is being anemic, I'm so energy less at times. I know being diligent in taking my vitamins would help. So I need to do that. It just sucks not having energy a times. But work with what you're given with.
I really want to loose 10 pounds a month. I need to get my mind off the scale and into just being fit and healthy in general. Been hooked on that damn thing and its discouraging at times. But its okay, I know that scale doesn't measure how hard I work.
I know I can work harder and I'm determined to get rid of that 10 pounds this month. Or at least not gain.
:-)

Strenth Training 11/30/11 Legs & Back
In pictures:
I was wearing long sleeves cuz I was cold. Took 2 scoops of jack3d and worked my ass off with some cardio circuits in between or when I was toolazy weak to do pull ups/chin ups. Got so sweaty!!! Haha. I still feel like I cheated myself but I just can't do a pull up or chin up or a lot of it. I don't know. I hate those.
I did Legs & Back today. I was going to do Chest & Back but I took too much jack3d and I couldn't concentrate on my push ups. I was so jittery and was trying not to rub my face. Can you imagine doing push ups and your face was tingly like no tomorrow? So I did legs. I'm going to feel this later, but its all good. I need to get a physical soon because I think I have balance problems. Haha! I'm pretty uncordinated but all these lunges made me realize that I have a hard time keeping my balance! I need to work on my core more I guess. That should help. A stronger core also means better posture while running. So it would beneficial for running and life in general I guess. But I kept on thinking I was gonna fall. Maybe I was just tired? But who knows. A physical is a good thing to get anyway :-)
I was also tempted to stop mid point and just run but I didn't. I finished it. I want to run but not yet. I'm officially registered for my 3rd half so and I want to sub 2:30 for it. I want to loose a lot of weight before then, so officially training for that isn't till February- using the Hal plan again, but I'm going to work in back in so I can blast through my "energy stores," a.k.a. chubs.
Anyway, more on that tomorrow or later tonight on my "goals blog." Have a lot going on in my mind and working out has been a good escape.
Thankful that I can. I do because I can.

Strength Training 11/29/11
Shoulders & Arms today and in my favorite shirt ever! I love this oversized shirt. Funny thing is, I got it on clearance up here in NorCal, for $1.97!!! But its my favorite shirt to sleep in and workout in.
I've been in a rut lately that doesn't have anything to do with working out. Been lazy and not motivated because my mind was just pre-occupied with so much junk; but this week, this day, this second is new and it may have taken me a while, but now is what matters.
Back to the grind it is! I'm on track so far in terms of weight loss, I'm actually ahead of schedule, but it all good. I broke that plateau even through thanksgiving my weight dropped (not as much as I would like but that pumpkin pie was worth it) and I'll check the end of this week how much I lost. I'll talk more about that December 1 when I do my monthly goals :-) That way I'll have a few more days to loose some pounds!
Today's workout was good. Maybe cuz I needed the endorphins, as I always say, or maybe it "gave me a purpose," not that I'm purposeless, but it was good. I liked it. I sped it up a bit and did 3 sets of 30 second planks and some squats when I should have been ballistic stretching, so it was good.
I want to get back into running too. I've pretty much taken November off from running which is LAME but I've been sick on and off and not wanting to venture far from the house just in case I puke. Its still no excuse because we do have a treadmill, but I hate that thing. I'm loosing muscle definition on my thighs. If you run, you know them runner legs & they pretty!
See the muscle definition? I already have defined calves [which I don't really like, but its better than cankles?] and when I started running [more specifically running hills] I gained a lot of muscle & definition in my thighs. See that "bump" above the outer knee? I love that thing. Haha. Its like a badge of honor. It might not be "sexy" by other people's standards but to me its a sign of all the miles and hills. Mines still there, maybe I'm just paranoid because I haven't ran in a while ::sigh::
Anyway, more about running on my December 1 entry. I need to start up a plan and stick with it when it comes to running :-)
Have a strong & beautiful day everyone!

Strength Training 11/14/11 Shoulders & Arms
According to my calendar, I'll do a different post on that later, today was Shoulders & Arms day!!! The last time I worked out or ran was Wednesday. I had a sinus infection cold thing going on and I was so looking forward to today because I wanted to work out. I miss those endorphins! I was seriously mentally feeling the lack of physical activity.
Took two scoops of jack3d because I wasn't feeling the first one after 30 minutes and I had to take a break. Two scoops is always too much for me, my face, ears, & palms of my hands were so tingly I could barely life the weights. Also, I finally moved on to 10 pound weights where I could. Some of them I couldn't do the 10 pounds with out injuring, like dropping the weights on my face, myself so I played it safe. Suffice to say, my ass is beat. Or my arms, but I'm glad, that means that my muscles are growing and I'm getting stronger. I'm really happy about this workout. I'm sitting here post protein shake and I'm just glad that I did it! And form wasn't an issue and I did something!!! Four days off from sickness is four days too long! I'm looking forward to the soreness tomorrow!!! It feels good to get my ass kicked.
I also did planks. It seems so easy, but really your core gets a workout, pretty much your whole body. If you guys & gals want to work out your core withou weights, just planks. You think its easy, but wait till you do it.
Its a hannya kettle ball! Its 35 pounds and its $140~ish! Its an entire set of "demon" balls, but the story behind the hannya is something I love. Kettle balls are "requirements" for P90x2, so its an excuse to get one, but for $140~ish I can get a set of non awesome but still functional kettle balls.
Anyway, tomorrow is hills or tempo run. I'll see how I am with running because I'm still not 100% there in terms of this sickness but I really want to get out there and do it!!!
I also need to sign up for Turkey Trot if I do decided on doing it. And if so, 5k or 10k? Its a big even for the city, and anticipate 17,500 runners all in Downtown! Its going to be crazy!!!
Have a strong day!

So pretty much you lie on your tummy then prop yourself up on your elbows. Keep your elbows below your shoulders and keep that 90 degree angle steady. Suck your gut in, make sure your back & legs are straight and hold for 30 seconds, down for 5 seconds. Repeat as many times as desire! You can challenge yourself to do a minute straight, or 5 minutes straight if you're really ambitious and hard core. Warning tho, its really not as easy as it seems. There are variations too, but I think I'll do an entire entry devoted to planks. They are so much fun, challenging, & its a good simple workout. I did 1 minute today, and it doesn't seem much but add that to the work out and I'm done. I'll probably do some again before I go to bed.

Strength Training 11/09/11
Chest & Back
I'm so determined to have proper form for chest & back. I know my form isn't the best and I'm really doing low reps with proper form but so determined. I feel like I can only tackle one a time and now that my form is passable for shoulders & arms I want to work on chest & back. I know I should be doing proper form for everything [including running] but I don't want to get overwhelmed! I'm so weak. Since I can't do a lot of reps for any time I just planked, the exercises kind, not the trendy kind. I want to plank for a minute without shaking like crazy.
I wanted to run this morning but this cold gave me a cold. I need to boost my immunity, which means I need to be smart and consistent about my vitamins. I know I don't get everything from what I eat because I haven't been eating right. Its "clean" but maybe too clean if you get my drift. I'm below calories and I'm practically on a vegan diet because I don't want to eat meat. I only want chicken. Or turkey and we have neither. I'm being so picky at the moment. I really want to drop that excess weight. But I know I'm gaining a lot of muscle as well. Which doesn't show on the scale but it shows everywhere else.
Speaking of running, I also need to sign up for Hollywood Half before December. I'm debating about doing Turkey Trot this year. I haven't done a 10k race but I've done a 5k & a half-marathon. Haha. Oh yeah, this enabler has been enabled!!! I just want to say thanks to my enabler for this:
That Running Warehouse [my favorite shoe store!] box holds something. I'll divulge soon, but lets just say it feeds my addiction! I know its a gift, but enabler knows I might return it. I need to read up on it and see, but dang, if it isn't awesomeness in a box!!! I mean awesomeness!
And really awesome words here:
I always tell people this, even before I saw this graphic, I've told those who are on the fence about pursuing their dreams to do so. Those who know me know I'm an enabler. I share life because I want others to know they have the freedom to share theirs with me, and others. Sometimes, were afraid to "go first." Were afraid to share our dreams, our struggles, our worries, our cares, or even take the first step to wherever, because we don't want to go first. I think one of the great things we can do is "go first," that way, those who are afraid, will have the courage to go at all. Running, & working out, for me has become so much more than a physical thing, it really is something that benefits your body & mind, and majority of runners I've met in real life and online are all surprisingly kind and down to earth and keeps it real. Regardless, we are all in life together. Don't be afraid to share your dreams, to show your dreams, because you never, I mean never, know who is willing to help you and how great that help can be.

Strength Training 11/08/11
First, it would be a diservice to myself if I don't greet you all a happy Modern Warfare 3 Day!
With that said, I just finished Shoulders & Arms for P90x! I also noticed this:
I always end up matching all my workout & running gear! It never hit me when I was buying my gloves that it would match my Nike Free Run+2 that I have now delegated as workout and short run shoes, I still love them, but I can't hang with them for long runs, too much arch support. But they do match!
Anyway, I need to buy either 9 pound weights or just suck it up and use my 10 pounds but either way, I'm graduating from 8 pound weights!!! Whooo!!!
What I really want is this:
but that will have to weight.. I mean wait. Get it? Its that post work-out endorphins talking crazies, or corny!
Anyway, workout was good. I really love Shoulders & Arms but I know I need to mix it up. My back needs help and also my once a week ab-ripper needs to be done. Anyway, I drank my protein shake and now I'm off to shower the stink away!
Have a strong day everyone!

Strength Training 10/31/11
My ass got kicked by arms & shoulders today. Not sure if its cuz I'm in a rush, or if its because I didn't take jack3d or whatever, but I didn't finish, I'm beat. I am running late, but thats not the primary reason I didnt' finish. I'm just beat.
I'll do a full session, including ab ripper, when I get back.
But this is how I felt:
I was tired, I didn't want to do anything but goof around and or lay down and just be silly. Its okay tho. I just really want to break through the plateau. I want to loose 10 more pounds by the end of this year, totally do able if I get serious about it. Going to be tougher since it is the season of food and indulging. But totally do able!
Anyway, have to jet. I don't even want to take a protein shake since my workout was so half assed and since I want to drop more weight, I really am in that bad mentality of "don't eat anything if you don't have to."
Sigh!

Strength Training 10/18/11
I seriously wish there was an alternative to push ups, like eating sushi or something .
I hate push ups, but I love them?
Dang.
Its like eating sushi from cheap places. You take the risk of being in pain, food poisoning, because you love it so much. Not that I can't do them, "I presently struggle with push ups." I can do them okay, just not fast or in high quantities. I sweat like crazy too. Sweat drips down from my face when I do push ups. I also hate dive bombers. Question. Does any body else have "crackly elbows" when they do push ups? And a crackly spine when they do ab ripper? It worries me, more on my spine cuz I pinched a nerve on my bottom spine and its prone to getting pinched again. It hurts when it gets pinched!
I would rather do an hour of ab ripper than push ups.
MAYBE.
Obviously, today was chest & back for P90x. I really need to get a pull up bar. I think that will help build upper body strength way better than the bands could. Plus the band I'm using, which is already doubled up for max resistance snapped today. It snapped in the clip so I fixed it but still. I'm scared of the band snapping into my face.
Anyway, nothing like a good work out for some endorphins. I did a half assed ab ripper too. I'm just exercising in the morning to amp up my metabolism. I'm not going into over drive because of that half on Sunday that has hills. I was reading blogs about the Nike Women's Marathon and a lot of them talked about the hills! Registration opens today for the San Francisco Marathon and I wanted to do the half it all challenge, but now I'm scared of the hills! The Morgan Hill Half I'm running has hills, not as bad as SF, but it has a hill halfway through. I hope I sub 3 or at least beat my PR of 3:08. I'm not sick this time around and I'm not on my period, and hopefully won't be, so I should be able to, even with the hills. Goal? Sub 3! Preferably 2:45.
I shall leave y'all with this:
Its a nod to a Disney movie. Haha. My imagination runs wild on endorphins and my work out mat made a perfect ca____!

"Taper" Week
"Taper" because really, I didn't train for this upcoming half. In true cat fashion, its do or die. I have my preference of what I want to happen, but its do or die!
Been doing a lot of strength training lately. I want those muscles!!! I haven't been super strict with my eating, and I'm surprised I'm still dropping. I credit the muscles and the green tea. My metabolism has been on over drive.
I'm pretty scared about this upcoming half, but I don't think the anxiety and anticipation goes away. But I'm also nervous cuz this is a lot hillier compared to the NorCal half! I mean a lot. NorCal was flat as a pancake. I just want to break my PR even with the hills. But if not, its okay. I'll enjoy the run.
I haven't actually worked out yet, I'm waiting for jack3d to kick in. I'm not making that mistake of double dosing because I'm impatient.
I have a lot for today, I want the workout and the endorphins:
Have a strong day everyone!
PS. Someone asked me about planks. It was a serious question but I needed the laugh. Haha. I figured people would know but no, its not this plank:
its this plank:
And since were at it, burpees are not 16 sets of burps, but this:
This one is burpees to shoulder press, but you get the pciture. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of Nike.

Strength Training 10/12/11 & Random Running Babbles!
Want spidey tingles?!
Had 2 Scoops of jack3d and I seriously never learn. I'm really caffeine sensitive. I don't drink soda and coffee- I love coffee I just don't make it well and don't find myself at a coffee shop enough. The most caffeine I get is from tea, green tea. And I only have jack3d like 2-3 times a week so I don't cycle off jack3d. Today, I had one scoop, waited 15 minutes and decided to have another one. It wasn't a mistake, it was just spidey tingles galore. Even my ears were tingling! Also I couldn't focus till about halfway the workout. I had to force myself to concentrate. Which is really the point of jack3d, to focus you. Anyway, I love this stuff! I need to finish my jar so I can try another flavor.
I did shoulders and arms. I really need to buy a pull up bar. I'll probably buy it with in the month. Right now my biceps hurt. Just my right. I kinda slacked off on stretching so thats probably it. I know my right hand is stronger than my left too. I feel bad for my left arm, but what you gonna do? Can I use a heavier weight for my left arm only? I'm also beginning to love chair dips! I hate those things. Back when I first started I'll do like five. Now I'll blaze through 15. One thing I also notice is that I get light headed weight lifting. I really need to intake more iron. I think I'll eat nothing but spinach for a week. Be Popeye for a week and see if it helps my blood count. to rise.
Another thing I need to work on both in running and P90x is pacing! I don't want to "pump" iron, I'm not sure where I got this idea from and I'm not sure if its right or wrong, but doesn't "pumping" increase muscle size as opposed to slow lifting? Or just reps? I do 12-15, and I'm about to move from 8 to 10 pound weights! I think I'm wrong on the "pumping" vrs "slow." I think its all about reps. Yeah, reps. I don't want to increase bulk. I want lean muscles. But I'm a girl, so should I worry about bulking up?
Anyway, I was on Google looking up if my theory on "pumping" vrs "slow" lifting, and I found an article on running and weight lifting. I don't want to link it because it made me sad. It talked about how both are for and against each other. I love running! I love P90x! I love both! So I don't want to give up one or the other. It talked about how too much muscle mass is just weight that your body (knees, joint) has to carry while running and how to balance both. It did say that both is do able, just have to give a take a bit from both. Since I'm dropping weight anyway, I'm not too worried about my joints. I'll drop weight and gain muscle for now, and when I'm satisfied with that, I'll evaluate if I have to loose muscle to be an efficient runner. I don't think I'll ever be an elite, but I want to do well!!!
Speaking of elite runners, I watched the start of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with the elites and watching them gave me goosebumps. The way their bodies are so efficient in running. Its crazy! Like seriously, I was in awe! I want to meet Kara Goucher! Shes running the Nike Women's Marathon and if theres a meet & greet in the expo, I'm thinking of heading to the city! As I was watching I was thinking about something super random. I'm not going to be one of those parents that pushes their kids into something, but I swear as long as I have some influence, or a lot of, in their lives, I'm going to "lead" them into running. I'll let them run around barefoot, have mini 3 yard races as soon as they crawl, then 10 yards when they walk and just have fun with it. If they want to stick with it, good, if they don't, well, at least I tried. Maybe we can have the first well known Fil-Am elite runner!!! Haha! I don't want to live my dreams through them, I just want them to know how fun it is. Runners are some of the friendliest people I know and seriously, I want them to be kind. Okay, enough psycho babble! Its the endorphins talking!
Have a strong day everyone!

Strength Training 09/29/11
I was supposed to do chest, shoulders, & triceps, but I just did shoulders & arms and then ab ripper. I didn't want to do push ups. I hate push ups. I would rather do ab ripper. The only thing I don't like about ab ripper is that my spine cracks. I think I don't stretch enough or my posture is wrong, but my spine cracks and it hurts. My ab hurts too, but well, thats the point right?!
Anyway, I'm going to run a 5k tomorrow because I haven't been running and I need to get back on that running thing if not, I'm going to go crazy. Is there a reason that my left leg is giving me problems form my hip to my knee? I haven't been straining it or anything. Its just giving me really bad problems. I know I can push through it, its just scary. I don't want to get my legs stretched out by a kinesiologist again. It hurts like a mother even if it feels good.
Speaking of running, I'm sorry Lunarglide+ 2
I have pretty much resigned you to work out shoes! You're still comfy as heck but your +3 brother is a lot better for long runs. But then again, I haven't done any solid long runs post half. So maybe I'll use you if I don't want to dirty my +3, like in the rain or in the trails!
Anyway, I had my protein shake and as always, I'm never hungry post P90x. Its just weird, I'm going to eat tho since I'm not going to get to eat till after 4.
See y'all later! Have a strong day!
Reminder for cat: stretch. Maybe your spine won't crack so much during ab ripper.
PS! I'm eating greek yogurt, and nasty! Don't get this brand!!! I love greek yogurt but this one is just weird. They put gelatin in it.The taste isn't that fun. If I'm going to eat it, it has to taste good and be good for me. Bleh! I'm finishing it tho. I'm not hungry and I needa eat.

Strength Training 09/27/11
Good morning world! I'm back!!! I haven't been running, or eating right for that matter, but today was the day to get back into eating right and P90x!!!
Thats my morning face. I've been up since 6 am and didn't start working out till around 9 am. I was debating between running or P90x but decided to do P90x, shoulders & arms!
To say that I'm weak is an understatement. I'm glad that I don't have to go back to bands, and I'm still on my weights. I'm on 8 & 10 pound weights, but man, it took 2 scoops of jack3d and a whole lotta sweat and effort to get through that and I didn't even do Ab Ripper X! Oh! My left knee was also hurting during warm ups- there are some jumping & "jogging" in place for warm ups, it was bothering me but I pushed through the pain and I'm confident when I run I'll be able to do the same!
In other news, I haven't bought new pants at all since I started working out & running. Only running shorts. But yesterday, decided to buy some shorts, I'm in love with tights under shorts and wearing boots for this California fall and winter weather! I dropped more sizes than I thought I would! I'm down six sizes! I was browsing random health & fitness reads last night to get motivated and I read that 1 size = 10 lbs lost. Which is more or less, almost true for me. I've dropped more size wise than weight, thanks to weight training!!! Thats INSANE! To be honest, I don't feel any different. I feel the same old me. Not in a bad way but in a good way. To me that means I've stayed true to my personality. The only thing I feel different about is that I care more about what I eat, and take more pride in how I dress, which I did before I lost six sizes, but now its like okay, I'll put in more effort! But for the most part, my personality has stayed the same. Haha. I think thats a good thing. I'm not cocky or think I'm better than anyone. If anything, I know where people who want to start this journey feel.
I'm thinking if I keep this up, I'll be where I want to be in less than 6 months then its just maintaining from there on. The trick is knowing where I want to be. I'm not going to put a target weight because I know muscle mass is awesome and more important. But I know I want to be more than just "skinny" or a certain size. I want to be strong. Lean muscle strong. I doubt I'm going to have a runners body because I carry most of my weight on top and ideally runners are rail thin, but I love my boobs and I love my curves so I'm okay with that. But I do want to have defined arms and abs. Running will take care of my leg muscles, which are already getting there.
Anyway, I need to shower, I stink. I also need to sterilize my work out mats. I sweat like crazy!
Since I've found myself wanting to do it up so much lately, I also have a new life rule I want to live by: only party as hard as you're willing to work out! So heres my protein drink, shaken, not stirred!
BOTTOMS & PINKY UP!!!

Goals?
I'm rethinking my goals right now.
Or priorities.
I stayed in a constant weight the week leading up to my half marathon. It was agonizing not to drop because I know that I need the food to fuel my runs. I'm used to dropping anywhere from 2-5 pounds a week. And I still want to loose weight. I'm getting a little obsessed with numbers, tho I shouldn't be. I know muscles and jean size is a better indicator, but I can't help it. I also hate my height. I don't tell a lot of people this, but I don't like my height. Tall for Filipina, short for everyone else. I would rather be a couple of inches shorter because I like being Filipina. Haha.
Anyway, I want to cut back calories again from 1800-2000 to 1200. Maintain running and step up my strength training. But off the top of my head, I'm going to have to pick two from three and stick with it. The most logical and is just stay within the 1800-2000 calorie range and work hard on running and strength training, but there is no way I can do all three. But who knows. I'm pretty bad ass, or so I like to think.
I think I'm going to die tho with that little calories. I keep on getting lectured on by my Aunt who is a nurse. But it works for me. I still want to keep up running for sure. I already have a lot of half marathons lined up and its such a big part of my life now. Its crazy. So I can't give that up. Blah.
I need to step back tho and just remember to listen to my body.
I'm not going to carry weight the same as other people, so while the number may not be ideal, the size will be and I won't be a walking zombie.
Just trying to think things out. I'm re-organizing life and this is part of it.

Strength Training 08/08/11 & Music Monday
This is how I felt about today's P90x session! It was bleh! But at least I did my best. Now to just forget the rest. I've been alternating just upper body stuff every other day. Today was Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps. I really wanted to make it count, and I know it still does even tho I feel iffy about it, because I seriously ate not so cleanly yesterday, Saturday, & Friday. Calorie wise, I'm still below 2000, which is a big step from max 1200, but it wasn't clean food at all. I had ice cream!!! I haven't had legit ice cream in a while. I also had cake! Haven't had legit cake in a while either! Then last night I had Swedish pancakes! I haven't had pancakes, Swedish too, in a while either. I know my body hates me, but I needed some sort of break. Its back to the grind now. Which is a very good thing.
I haven't had a P90x session in a while where I didn't feel like puking after. I think I need to cycle off jack3d too. I decreased from 1.5 scoops of jack3d back to 1 but I still feel like puking. Maybe cuz I do it on an empty stomach.
It is all good tho. I'm seeing a difference in my arms and I'm so glad I am because I don't like my arms. I know theres no such thing as "targeted" fat loss, but I know I can tighten up my muscles and pull everything in till the fat falls off my arms =] Oh happy joy joy. That keeps me going. Seeing results and just knowing that I'm doing this for me by me. I also need to get some adjustable weights!
Keeps me going!
Time to protein shake and shower.
PS. I link this on Twitter & Facebook because I love hearing from y'all. I have many of you messaging me questions about 2 main things: motivation & what to eat. I'll have posts on that coming up. I swear! Especially the food stuff! Haha. But yeah, keep going you guys! Keep going!!! Happy 100th post to me =]
MUSIC MONDAY!!!
I have a mix that a friend gave me and this song was on it and I really liked it. I really like it for working out because all I do is WIN WIN WIN!!!

Strength Training 07/31/11
This is how I felt after Chest & Back.
I seriously have no strength or something, which is why I'm strength training. Duh.
Someone call the police and lock up those push ups! Those push ups were killer.
KILLER. KILLER. KILLER.
At least I did my best. Now I can forget the rest.
Haha.
So 6 mile run + 1 mile walk to and from park & chest & back.
I was going to do ab ripper but after the halfway point of chest and back, I started seeing double and felt like puking so I think I'll call today's workout done.
Plus my core is pretty sore right now from push ups cuz "I sucked it in." Haha. I should probably do ab ripper. It will only benefit me. Man.
To ab ripper or not?!
PS. I'm cleaning my work out mat now. Its always dripped with sweat and I don't want it to be all germy. Ewe!

07/27/11 Strength Training
Getting back in the groove of P90x!
I did Biceps & Back plus Ab Ripper today!
Ab Ripper is a killer but I love the way it feels after. Like I'm about to puke with every breathe I take.
Motivation? I had a cheese roll post workout with my protein shake!
I also took double the dosage of jack3d and it helped get me through it. Still tingly right now, hopefully it will pass in an hour at most. Last time, I was tingly all day. I haven't had caffeine in a while.
I really want a stronger core. I find myself slouching when I run after a certain miles and a stronger core will help me not slouch. I know that this will benefit running and vice versa so I really want to keep at it.
I won't weight myself for two weeks either because I just got back from LA where I hardly watch what I eat. I still did but I gave myself soom room for nom nom I don't have up here.
Yeah! Loved it. I can't wait to work myself back up to 10lb weights then 15... I think I'll probably top at 20. I want to be lean, not bulky.

07/21/11 Strength Training
Guess who did P90x after what I believe is more than a month off?!
ME!
Okay, I did a couple of half assed sessions here and there, but damn. My ass is kicked right now. Super bad. Running ate up what little muscles I have!
I had to go back to my bands and I barely used my 8lb weights. When I stopped, I was on 8/10 lbs depends which one I'm doing. But now, I'm on bands. Damn it!!! In retrospect, I should have started form the beginning. I did chest, shoulders, & triceps. I should have just done chest & back, like start over totally. Over ambitious I guess.
My left hand is also significantly weaker than my right hand which super sucks!!!
Anyway, all this "fail" is just motivating me to get back on the P90x bandwagon. I'm determined to make it work along with running. It seems so counter productive but P90x will give me a stronger core which will help my form in running and running will help me my P90x by working out my legs because I hate doing legs in the P90x. Haha!
But I think I'll randomly do free weights with my left hand. Its really weak. I'm kinda sad about it. Those one arm push ups were killer.
Anyway, yeah. I'll have my 3.5 miler later after work whenever it cools down a bit. Looking forward to that. But seriously... my ass is so kicked from this P90x session. I feel bummed that I stopped for that long, but like I said, motivated and ready to kick some more ass.
PS. I can't wait for my GU to get here. I bulked ordered em on subscription from Amazon and they came out to be $0.86 per GU. I pay $1.30 at the store and I use about three a week. Or I try to use 3 a week. Limit myself to those 3 and so I get a shipment of 24 GU every 2 months. If that doesn't work, I'll have to do it monthly. But I figured 3 a week that 24 should last me 8 weeks, roughly two months. Hopefully it will work. But I "can't" run with GU. I can, but I feel the lack of energy. It might be mind games, but I really doubt it is because I can still run, but I can feel a lack in my performance and lack of energy. But whatever! I'm glad its coming supposedly tomorrow and I get my combat shorts from Nike today!
PPS. My weight is fluctuating like crazy, but my size is on a decline so I'm not too worried. I'm going to stop using the scale for a month because that fluctuation is driving me crazy even if I know that I'm dropping sizes.

The Hundred totally kicked my ass today.
As if it wasn't hard enough, putting your legs up higher and adding resistance bands (hooked on your feet, pulling down with your hands) just plain old kicked my ass. My core is burning, but I admit its mildly addicting.
It also helped my freakin' spine! Oh hallelujah. I've been having sciatic nerve/slip disc issues (like I said, mixed diagnosis) and while I don't have to take vicodin because the pain is tolerable, the pain is still there.
I'm also learning and appreciating the importance of stretching. I don't normally stretch before my runs I just kinda jog for five minutes then go at it but I think thats one of the ways I damaged my lower spine/back. I did some stretches today for cooling down and I have to admit, I felt much much much better after my workout. Usually I feel like passing out and knocking out, but I actually feel pretty alert and I kinda want to keep on going but I know I need to let my muscles chillax. I'm not sure if I'm alert cuz I had some caffeine tho. I couldn't wake up this morning without feeling mentally crappy so I had to get some caffeine in my system in the form of double caffeine Rockstar.
I'll probably do some P90X or Insanity later. I really want to work on my core and yeah, the hundreds help, but I want to push it, not too much, but just ennough.
::edited to add::
I did 3 sets of hundreds. My arms hurt, my core hurts, & a bunch of different muscles hurt. It would be okay if I wasn't super cold right now. The cold is just making me feel weird.

Yesterday, because of the rain, I didn't run as much as I wanted. In retrospect, it probably wouldn't have qualified as a run at all. More like "I want to run, oh crap the rain is getting harder lets turn around right away."
So mostly, I just did some strength training.
I have this exact set of resistance tubes that I bought from Walmart. I don't intend to ramble or review products, just saying what I have. Anyway, for a weakling like me, this set is awesome. First of all, like I said, I am weak. The bands come with three levels of resistance and you can mix & match them for your own personal preference. I use the red or blue one, depends on what I'm working out.
They work awesome for P90x stuff that requires weights or bands, but today I just did the DVD that came with the bands. I worked out 11 am - noon and I'm still sore. It put me to work. The DVD is pretty thorough and mixes it with some nice high intensity cardio (or go as intense as you want, I kinda went berzerk this morning). I really like resistance bands, but I'll be honest that I'm terrified one of thesee days that its going to snap and hit me in the face or something. I'm also kinda iffy on the leg workouts with the bands. I'm not sure if its going to be as effective as the shoulders/arms/backs workout.
One thing I don't like are my arms. Wheeew. I hate my arms, especially my upper arms. I really wish there was such thing as being able to target weight loss but theres no such thing. The best thing I can think of while waiting for the weight to fall off my arms is to build those muscles and pull everything in. I do tend to focus on my arms when I strength train. Which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing. I should probably focus on "everything" or at least rotate, but I really don't like my arms. The workout on the DVD was alreing but I think I'll stick with the P90x workout as opposed to the DVD. P90x is crazy, but I do want to push myself as far as intensity.
Thats what I did today in terms of working out. Pretty tame, but I do feel the soreness 12 hours later. I have no bananas so I couldn't banana it after. Bummer.
I really wanted to put in a solid run because I haven't ran a good one in two weeks, but its raining. The forecast also doesn't show any signs of rain stopping until mid next week, but I'll just consider it as a sign to keep on resting for my nerve. It will probably only benefit me if I rest it up closer to the six week mark than the one week its been.

I didn't do anything on Sunday. I woke up feeling sucky. Playing in the rain has consequences y'all.
